Some users have encountered a problem with their iTouch’s while trying to use ZiPhone’s jailbreaking application.  We followed the video posted on their website, http://www.ziphone.org/2008/02/ziphone-works-on-itouch-too.html .

If you were the fortunate one's that were able to get it to work on your iTouch here's how you delete Ziphone's Blog Icon:

On 1.1.3 and above hold down on the icon and the black x comes up and click it and hit delete.

If you need the 1.1.4 file.

Upon following the instruction on the video that seemed easy enough, I now had an iTouch that would do nothing else but…

Here is an instructional video to guide you through what is written here.

There is a way to restore your iTouch to the original firmware.

First you must turn off your now useless iTouch by holding the power button and the home button at the same time.  It should shut off in less than 10 seconds.  Once off, wait for 5 seconds and press both buttons again.  This time booting your iTouch into “Restore Mode”.

NOTE:  you don't have to wait 5 seconds to press the buttons again, you can simply continue to hold them down and it will go directly into restore mode. Also, I never unplugged my iPod/iTouch from my computer.

Note from user Beau McG.: Beau powered down my iPod and my pc.  Unplugged the ipod. Rebooted the pc, connected the iPod, turned it on in restore mode.

Once in restore mode, your iTunes may open automatically if your settings are set to do so when your iPod/iTouch is plugged into your pc/mac. If not just open iTunes and you should see the following.

Image

Click ok and it will bring you to the iPod/iTouch display within iTunes.

Image

Normally you would click Restore and it should restore your iPod/iTouch to its factory settings.  In this case you need to hold shift (on your keyboard) + click on the Restore button on a Windows PC, For Mac you must hold the option key + click on the Restore button.  This will prompt the following display.

 * For Mac users you need to go into your user's Library folder, then to the iTunes folder, then onto the iPod Software Updates folder to find the restore file is it is local. *

Image

This was done on a Mac, so the print screens pertain to Mac’s operating system, but the process if the same.  We expanded the window to show you where to look for the 1.1.3 and previous iTouch upgrades locally on my machine.

Image

If you can’t find it on your PC or Mac you can download the file here .  Once downloaded, you can navigate to the folder where it is located and select while using the specified restore mode.
Once you have selected the iTouch restore, click open and let iTunes work.

Once iTunes has finished restoring the iTouch, you will see the following:

If you look at your iTouch’s screen you will now see:

Eventually you will be greeted with:

Congratulations!  Your iTouch is now rendered useful again and you can relax for the time being.

You can now restore your iTouch to the previous settings.

When looking at iTunes after the complete restore you simply can click the radial button to restore from a previous backup and then click “Continue”.

Upon completion you will see the following:

Once completely restored, your iTouch will now start syncing with your PC/Mac.

Thanks so much mate, i was having a bloody s**t fit prior to finding these restoring instructions. I don't know if i'll risk having another go at jailbreaking. Although now I know how to fix it. But it does put unnecessary stress on me when things don't go how they're supposed to. thanks again!

Just want to add that you might need to press and hold both ON/OFF and HOME buttons throughout, instead of releasing them after the iTouch was switched off. It worked for me, at least. P.S. I am holding a 16GB iTouch with firmware 1.1.1, which was fxxxed up by Ziphone.

I UNPLUGGED MINE FROM ziphone b4 it was done, when i try to put my ipod in recovery it still comes to the BSD error?? any suggestions on how to stop process, my itunes is NOT recognizing my ipod , same with ziphone..WHAT DO I do! email me at This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it his e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it , or just post!!

I was suffering from the same problem and i kept on doing what it said in the video and it just suddenly worked and was detected in iTunes.
Hold down the off n home button for 10seconds; keep the home button held down and then iTunes should detect it.
THANKYOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO

If you get the error message and are having trouble, please hold down the power and home button at the same time. It may take a little while but it will s**t down and head into restore mode. But you must hold onto both buttons while turning on in order to enter restore mode.

When we have a working jailbreak that doesn't require you to do a rain dance in order to get it to work, we will post here for you of our findings.

You can also check these posts for updates, alternative methods to jailbreak that have worked, and other methods to jailbreak or restore:
