Some users have encountered a problem with their iTouch’s while trying to use ZiPhone’s jailbreaking application.  We followed the video posted on their website, http://www.ziphone.org/2008/02/ziphone-works-on-itouch-too.html .

If you were the fortunate one's that were able to get it to work on your iTouch here's how you delete Ziphone's Blog Icon:

On 1.1.3 and above hold down on the icon and the black x comes up and click it and hit delete.

If you need the 1.1.4 file.

Upon following the instruction on the video that seemed easy enough, I now had an iTouch that would do nothing else but…

Here is an instructional video to guide you through what is written here.

There is a way to restore your iTouch to the original firmware.

First you must turn off your now useless iTouch by holding the power button and the home button at the same time.  It should shut off in less than 10 seconds.  Once off, wait for 5 seconds and press both buttons again.  This time booting your iTouch into “Restore Mode”.

NOTE:  you don't have to wait 5 seconds to press the buttons again, you can simply continue to hold them down and it will go directly into restore mode. Also, I never unplugged my iPod/iTouch from my computer.

Note from user Beau McG.: Beau powered down my iPod and my pc.  Unplugged the ipod. Rebooted the pc, connected the iPod, turned it on in restore mode.

Image

Once in restore mode, your iTunes may open automatically if your settings are set to do so when your iPod/iTouch is plugged into your pc/mac. If not just open iTunes and you should see the following.

Image

Click ok and it will bring you to the iPod/iTouch display within iTunes.

Image

Normally you would click Restore and it should restore your iPod/iTouch to its factory settings.  In this case you need to hold shift (on your keyboard) + click on the Restore button on a Windows PC, For Mac you must hold the option key + click on the Restore button.  This will prompt the following display.

 * For Mac users you need to go into your user's Library folder, then to the iTunes folder, then onto the iPod Software Updates folder to find the restore file is it is local. *

Image

This was done on a Mac, so the print screens pertain to Mac’s operating system, but the process if the same.  We expanded the window to show you where to look for the 1.1.3 and previous iTouch upgrades locally on my machine.

Image

If you can’t find it on your PC or Mac you can download the file here .  Once downloaded, you can navigate to the folder where it is located and select while using the specified restore mode.
Once you have selected the iTouch restore, click open and let iTunes work.

Once iTunes has finished restoring the iTouch, you will see the following:

If you look at your iTouch’s screen you will now see:

Eventually you will be greeted with:

Image

Congratulations!  Your iTouch is now rendered useful again and you can relax for the time being.

You can now restore your iTouch to the previous settings.

When looking at iTunes after the complete restore you simply can click the radial button to restore from a previous backup and then click “Continue”.

Upon completion you will see the following:

Once completely restored, your iTouch will now start syncing with your PC/Mac.

Ziphone 2.5 Is Not Working With Some If Not All 16GB iPod/iTouch
written by Ricardo , February 29, 2008
Just for clarification, this Ricardo is part of the Oscot Team. We tried his method yesterday so many different ways we became dizzy. It does not work.

Ziphone 2.5 that was just released today, does not work either. If and when there is a working copy of Ziphone or any other jailbreaking application we will notify you.

We noticed the multiple posts in several forums as well but did not want to start an internet bickering match and just posted here about it. Thanks you all for the donations and support.

"working 1.1.4 16gb ipod touch" *Didn't work for me.
written by midnitesigma , February 29, 2008
Following the post by Riqo aka Ricardo, etc... This same person posted on several various forums and sites regarding this method of jailbreaking an iPod Touch 16GB , I attempted this method and was not successful. I'm not sure if this is an elaborate hoax or that he had good intentions but this didn't work. ZiPhone jailbreak method for the iPod Touch does not appear to have been perfected yet even with 2.5 of the application for Windows OS. I think the safer bet is to wait until an official jailbreak method for the 1.1.4 on iPod 16GB .

Ziphone, This Article, and your Itouch
written by Ricardo , February 29, 2008
Ziphone only seems to work flawlessly at the moment with 8 gig itouch/iphone's. If you have the BSD error, be patient and follow the instructions above and you will be able to reset it. We have made a video and print screened everything so you can follow along.

If you have any problems with that above then please post here and we will try and resolve the issue.

We will notify you once Ziphone is working flawlessly on all models of Apple's iTouch.

Ignore the message below
written by Ricardo , February 28, 2008
The Oscot Team has tested the method below several different ways for the past hour and it DOES NOT work. Once Ziphone is fixed and working, we will post about it here. He is trying to work out the kinks and we he will have a resolution soon.

We tried Ziphone as of today on our iPod touch in 1.1.3 firmware and 1.1.4 firmware. It is not working and we are editing the video content to show you the different ways we tested the post below.
