Vista uses a series of messages all over the place to warm you of happenings.  Everything from potential security problems to updates needing your attention will have a popup.  While going through changes in your applications, especially security software you may eventually encounter messages that resemble the following.
Vista System Popups
Vista System Popups

When first starting out with Vista, you will receive barrages of them, and they can be quite the nuisance.  However, ignore them for the time being.  As you move on and complete the setup process these will start to disappear and only appear when absolutely necessary.  You can keep track of them to help you better understand what is going on, this meaning that you read them and know what Vista is trying to tell you.  It seems that Microsoft may have overdone it a bit with these, but they do tell you what is going on.
